The Holistic Counselling & Coaching Institute (HCCI) celebrated a major milestone on Saturday, 19th September, 2026, as it held its Fifth Graduation Ceremony at the Bethel Baptist Church, Dansoman, Accra.
Held under the powerful theme “Counselling for Wholeness: Building Resilient Individuals, Families, and Communities” anchored on Jeremiah 30:17, “But I will restore you to health and heal your wounds, declares the Lord,” – the ceremony brought together leaders from the Ghana Psychology Council, distinguished ministers of the gospel, mental-health professionals, academics, faculty, families and friends.
Among the 95 graduands of the Advanced Certificate in Counselling and Psychology programme, Pastor Felix Nana Boakye stood out as the *Overall Best Student of the Class of 2026 and delivered the Valedictory Address on behalf of his class.
A Message That Touched Hearts
In his valedictory address, Ps. Felix spoke candidly about the demanding journey through the programme – moments of pressure, sacrifice, and the desire to give up while juggling ministry, work, family and studies.
He shared that HCCI did not only equip him to help others, but also challenged him to confront his own life, leading to personal growth and healing.
“HCCI does not merely train practitioners, it rebuilds and transforms people. Effective counselling requires us to see clients as complete human beings, not just as their problems or worst experiences,” he said.
He reminded his fellow graduates that the world does not need people who claim to have all the answers, but people who can ask thoughtful questions, listen without judgement, hold space for pain, and help people rediscover hope.
His heartfelt address received warm applause and reflected the values HCCI stands for – competence, compassion, character, and integrity.
A Call to Build Resilience
The ceremony was chaired by Rev. Gabriel Sekyi-York, Senior Pastor of Bethel Baptist Church, with a keynote address delivered by Rev. Dr. Ebenezer S. Maama Markwei, Founder of Living Streams International.
In his Presidential Address, Apostle James Kofi Abbrey, Founder and Executive Director of HCCI, charged the graduates to become channels of hope – helping to build:
- Resilient Individuals who can process emotions and face difficulties without being destroyed,
- Resilient Families who communicate, forgive and heal, and
- Resilient Communities where churches, schools and workplaces promote empathy and mental-health awareness.
The event also saw the historic launch of the HCCI Counsellors Association (HCCICA) by Mrs. Anna Plange, Acting Registrar of the Ghana Psychology Council, to promote ethical standards and continuous professional development.
From Pulpit to Professional Counselling
For Ps. Felix Nana Boakye, who is widely known for his work in business advisory, consultancy and counselling, this academic honour marks an important addition to his calling. It strengthens his commitment to offering holistic support that addresses the spiritual, emotional, psychological and practical needs of individuals, families and businesses.
HCCI, which began in 2016, has grown into a recognized centre for counselling education, practicum, and mental-health advocacy in Ghana. The graduation of the Class of 2026 is not just an academic conclusion, but a commissioning to serve humanity.
